World-renowned nature guru Sir David Attenborough is currently working on his first Oculus Rift optimized nature documentary, according to John Morris, commercial director for Atlantic Productions. Speaking to RealScreen, Morris said of the show, named Conquest of the Skies:
We're now filming for the Oculus Rift so when we filmed our recent flight in Borneo, we filmed with an eight-camera rig, so you got the full 360° experience.
That might not be all that much information but, for us, it's more than enough to get seriously excited about! Imagine sitting back in your living room to get up close and personal with some of nature's most incredibly sights thanks to the immersive power of virtual reality!
The news will obviously come as a huge coup for Facebook, who announced last month that it would be acquiring the Rift's creator, Oculus VR, for around $2bn. What we want to know, though, is what came first: the Facebook deal or the decision for Attenborough's team to work with Rift?
