An artist on DeviantArt by the name The9988 has published his first version of the Map of the Internet, which is also available to buy.

The project is the first of its kind on this sheer scale and it's very impressive with plenty of references and subtleties to notice. According to The9988, this project is ongoing and new versions of the map will be available in the coming months as there are plenty of websites and software companies to be added.

Sites such as Google, Wikipedia, Facebook and Amazon are featured prominently, while companies like Apple and Microsoft can be seen from a distance. Then there are categories such as Internet Crime, the Great Internet Wasteland, and porn...of course. And, if you're a YouTube fan, some of the bigger channels such as RayWilliamJohnson, Epic Meal Time, Smosh, Jenna Marbles, and Nigahiga, among others, are highlighted.

The poster includes one full map of the internet, four mini-maps showcasing NSA surveillance, most used social networks, most used internet browser, and worldwide internet penetration, list of Alexa Top 500 websites, quick time-line of the Internet History, top software companies and more.

There's plenty to discover on the map and you can explore it on DeviantArt or purchase it for your wall.
