The Pirate Bay has seen uploads to the site increase by 50% in the past year alone and now hosts approximately 2.8 million files, most of which being video.

In November 2011, 38,319 torrent files were uploaded to The Pirate Bay. This number rose to 50,411 in November 2012 and hit 74,195 files last month. The Pirate Bay now hosts over 2.8 million files with videos being the most shared content. 54% of content shared on the site is video, audio is the second most shared category at 17%, followed by porn which accounts for 13% of shared content.

The site is celebrating its tenth anniversary, but it's been the subject of plenty of pressure over the past year. In 2013, The Pirate Bay had to switch domain names six times and courts around the world continue to order Internet providers to block subscriber access to the site.

2014 is likely to see The Pirate Bay battling with copyright holders and international courts once again. However, the site is hoping to use a peer-to-peer browser, which would make it impossible to censor or shut down the site.
