Documents seem to suggest that Apple is planning to update its Mac mini flagship 27-inch iMac consumer desktop PC in the coming weeks.

It might not have launched a smartwatch or a 12-inch tablet over recent months, but Apple has been busy updating and improving a host of its existing devices from its MacBook Air notebooks -- which saw a processor improvement and a price drop -- to its professional range of laptops, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros that were launched on Tuesday.

It's even managed to launch new, cheaper, entry-level iPods and iMacs. However, two devices that have been overlooked until now are the space-saving Mac Mini -- the little desktop box computer that needs to connected to a keyboard and monitor -- and its range-topping 27-inch iMac all-in-one desktop.

A new document, accidently published on the support section of Apple's website lists new 2014 Mac Mini and iMac models. And although it has since been pulled, it was available long enough for a number of tech sites to take a screen grab and start the rumour mill turning.

The Mac Mini hasn't received any sort of internal or external refresh since 2012 and the 27-inch iMac has been waiting for a makeover since 2013.

Reports in the past have suggested that Apple has been toying with the idea of offering the flagship consumer desktop with a Retina or even a 4K resolution display. And now that the new super-powerful Mac Pro is on sale, Apple can up the performance and specs on the top iMac without fear of damaging sales of either device.
