Is there a market for a device that lets pet owners talk to, play with and even feed their cats while away from home? The makers of Kittyo thought so, and Kickstarter seems to be proving them right. Funders have already pledged over five times the project's fundraising goal. With its treat dispenser, webcam and built-in laser pointer, this smart device allows cat lovers to communicate with their pet via smartphone or PC.
Kittyo was invented by Lee Miller, who wanted to provide a way for cat owners to interact with their animals while at work or on vacation.
To be available on both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), the dedicated Kittyo app will allow users to see and talk to their cat and even record videos using the device's built-in webcam. They will also be able to open the treat compartment and wave around the laser pointer to entertain their feline friend.
The purpose of the one-month Kickstarter campaign is to raise enough money to fund the production and commercial launch of Kittyo. Backers responded quickly and generously, allowing the project to reach its goal of $30,000 in just a few hours.
Kittyo will go on sale from November 2014 at the price of $189. The project's first backers will have a $90 discount.
