Tracking device Runtastic Orbit was announced Thursday, and its wide range of tracking capabilities set it apart from the crowd, particularly because it tracks inactivity in addition to activity.
In this way, it claims it can make anyone an athlete, or at least more active, for vibration alerts go off after each hour of inactivity outside of sleep.
While this may seem rather punishing, the system shows an aspect of caring with its ambient lighting sensor to help users regulate sleep cycles, and the corresponding app is capable of tracking light and deep sleep.
Users shouldn't be afraid to swim while wearing the device, which is waterproof to depths of 300 feet and offers an OLED display, alarm and Bluetooth Smart Technology.
The corresponding app, Runtastic Me, completes what is being called the Runtastic Ecosystem, where users can track and assess their steps and distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes, sleep and ambient lighting. Runtastic Me is available via iOS and Android.
Users of the flagship Runtastic app can use the wearable device by accessing Orbit Connect, which offers improved viewing of real-time activity data via a second screen.
The wearable device works with both the flagship Runtastic app and the new Runtastic Me app.
Runtastic Orbit is available for purchase for Ä119.99 on the online store, www.runtastic.com/orbit.
Shipping is expected Aug. 11.
