Modular smartphones will enable users to customize their phone the way they want, upgrade specific parts without having to buy a new phone, or have different modules depending on what they want to use their phone for at a given moment.

ZTE had the Eco-Mobius on display; the phone is divided into four separate swappable modules for LCD, core (processors, RAM and ROM), camera and battery. For days when you'll be away from a socket, you may decide to go for a bigger battery; or you could substitute the camera on other days when you need better quality shots, but still the portability of a smartphone.

This is the first concept device for a modular smartphone, a technology that ZTE claims could be on the market within two years.
