Samsung's upcoming wave of Galaxy smartphones could feature displays that extend beyond the bezel and overlap the sides. This wraparound display would enable the phones to display items such as text messages, stock tickers and other information on the side of the device, which will allow messages to be read at an angle or while the main screen is otherwise engaged.

This phone, according to Bloomberg, will utilize an upgraded version of the Youm flexible display, which is currently in use on the Samsung Galaxy Round. This display may be used for a new generation of Galaxy S or Galaxy Note devices.

No release date has been set for this mysterious device, though one of Bloomberg's anonymous sources said that the handset is more likely to come out during the second half of next year. Curved and flexible displays are the future; clearly it is just a matter of when they appear rather than if.
