One person was so eager to get their hands on a Champagne Gold iPhone 5s that they forked out just over $10,000 on eBay. Is there anything special about the phone? No, but the iPhone 5s in this particular colour is in short supply, so one opportunistic seller saw their chance to turn a quick profit.
The starting price was set at just $0.99 before a bidding war quickly broke out. After just 3 hours the price was above the retail price and one bidder must have thought they had sealed the deal by offering $10,000, when the next highest was $2,500. But with just ten minutes to go another bidder set the price at $10,100 and walked away with an incredibly valuable iPhone 5s. Let's hope they get insurance.
Apple has admitted that the new iPhones are in short supply, but that didn't stop the company from setting a new weekend sales record over the weekend by selling 9 million iPhone 5c and 5s handsets. However, CEO Tim Cook stated that the company is working hard to build new iPhones and is shipping them out to stores regularly.
