The Xperia Z1 hasn't hit shelves yet, but there are already rumours circulating that Sony is working on an Xperia Z1 Mini. It clocks in at 4.3-inches, 0.7-inches smaller than the Z1, according to Android Community which spotted an image of the front panel posted by ETradeSupply. The smaller display is said to have a 1280 x 720 resolution, compared to the Z1's 1920 x 1080 resolution.
However, this may be the only compromise made for the Mini. While this is all rumour for the time being, it is suggested that Sony will keep the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and its 20.7 megapixel camera with the Sony G Lens. The latter is an important feature considering how Sony has been championing the Z1's imaging capabilities.
The Z moniker now stands for waterproof, according to Sony, so expect to be able to take this smaller counterpart into shallow water if you so desire. According to Android Community, the phone will be announced this fall. Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Z1 will be released at the end of the month.
