The Boxes app for iPhone (which has its own website at www.box.es) lets you take photos of different items, add an Instagram-like filter to them, sort them by categories (“boxes”) and, if you feel like it, offer those items up for sale to other users of the app.

BOXES

Helps to log and organize objects around the house. You can keep lists of what you own, what you've stored and, most importantly, where it can be found later on. It also works as a network to buy or sell goods.

DOES IT WORK?

In theory, it works very well. It’s a bit time-consuming, but you can take photos of all your possessions, sort them in a neat catalogue and share some or all of them with other users. You can even set a price in order to sell them> But while many people see and “like” the items, there are very few sales.

WHAT’S MISSING?

A direct integration to eBay or Craigslist or other such online services would help boost Boxes' value, since there are a lot of similar programs available at the App Store.

VERDICT

It's a neat utility for those who keep losing stuff. With a little bit of luck, it can also help you sell or find items without the hassle of long negotiations and haggling.
