A concerned Reddit user suggested recently that Valve's Anti-Cheat (VAC) service took to rummaging through his/her browser history. Gabe Newell, Valve founder and head honcho, has since denied the accusation. Vehemently.
"Do we send your browsing history to Valve? No. Do we care what porn sites you visit? Oh, dear god, no. My brain just melted. Is Valve using its market success to go evil? I don't think so, but you have to make the call if we are trustworthy. We try really hard to earn and keep your trust."
Admittedly, Newell has a reputation for being tight-lipped about his company's practices. However, in this instance, he has elected to speak out. Is this an indicator of his truthfulness? Or an elaborate ploy to sway opinion in his Valve's favour?
