Swedish outfit Coffee Stain Studios took a break from working on its Sanctum series with a succession of free-thinking Creative Fridays, and then this happened...
What's the first result? A goat simulator that combines extreme sports with rag doll physics and high score head-butting.
At first glance it looks like another crazy mod for Grand Theft Auto V, but the Coffee Stain crew says Goat Simulator is one of five or six prototypes selected for further development from "about 50 different game ideas."
Its short run of development videos shows how players can collide into a variety of objects within the realistic environments of Goat Simulator.
Barrels, buckets and basketballs are all up for a battering; the work-in-progress goat can attempt to take on cars, take aim at nearby residents, or take a hike up a building site's crane.
Frontflips and backflips borrow from games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Joe Danger and OlliOlli while the studio has proven receptive to public suggestions, adding a goat tower "'cause of popular demand."
"To all the people asking if we'll make Goat Simulator into a real game... We'll leave it on the Internet for a few days and see how it goats," wrote Coffee Stain's Armin Ibrisagic.
