Nintendo announced the release of their strange and intriguing new app, Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre, Wednesday.

To announce the application's release, Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto tried out the tour in one very empty looking Louvre.

You can watch them use the app as a real-time guide as they move around the museum, with the 3DS screens displaying each piece of art along with detailed photos of the building's interior and an audio guide to explain along the way.

Unfortunately, the app was released only in Europe but it will be interesting to see if Nintendo decides to continue this idea and apply it to major historic sites across the world.

I know if I go to France, I will be sure to have my 3DS with me! Check out the Nintendo Mini-Direct released for the occasion.
