Sony's PlayStation 4 is almost here, indeed its just a matter of days until it makes it North American bow on the 15th of November.

By now, you know just about everything you need to about the specs and you've seen every angle possible on the matte black box that's going to be dominating your living room in the very near future. But what's the deal beneath that attractive, if angular, cover?

Thankfully, Wired has the answer to those questions - and they've revealed a series of photos taken a few weeks back in Tokyo, when Sony engineer Yasuhiro Ootori spent 90 minutes breaking down a console step by technologically fancy step.

It's a typically well put together unit from Sony, including an optical drive for DVD and blu-ray disks, that 500GB hard drive, and separate CPU and GPU chips to deliver performance that is set to be the fastest on the planet at launch. At least in the realm of consoles.

Naturally, all the processing power in the world is for nothing without the software that will deliver a new crop of games - and at least that process is a little easier this time around, with the system architecture closer to that of a PC.

The PlayStation 4 is coming to stores from Nov. 15 in North America.
