"Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Plus." (HO)

Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Plus (Tecmo Koei, for PlayStation Vita)

Did you play Ninja Gaiden 3? No? Good. It was a disappointing mess, far inferior to its predecessors. But one of those earlier games has now made the trek from the Xbox 360 to the PS3 to the Vita, bringing with it all the great levels and content from Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma and the easier "hero" mode from Ninja Gaiden 3. If you need that. Wimp.

System Shock 2 (Irrational Games, for PC)

Not long ago we began replaying the 1999 sci-fi/horror/action/RPG classic System Shock 2, after going to considerable trouble to apply all the updates that make it run properly on a modern PC. But man, does this game ever hold up. You can avoid all the hoop-jumping and grab a hassle-free version of the game with tons of digital extras from the amazing download service GOG.com. And it only costs $10! Dead Space, shmead space.

To the Moon (Freebird Games, for PC)

While you might have missed this game's recent sale on the digital download service Steam, that's no reason not to seek it out and play it. Don't let the cutesy, retro-RPG visuals fool you; this is one of the best and most touching video game stories in recent memory, created by a small team led by Ontario's Kan Gao. If the scares and intensity of System Shock 2 aren't your thing, spend the $10 on this instead.
