Star Trek and Star Wars: Episode VII director JJ Abrams and Valve co-founder Gabe Newell together delivered this year's opening keynote at the DICE conference, revealing that the two were collaborating on ideas for films and games.
Abrams and Newell had previously seen a teaser for the Super 8 film inserted into the PC version of Portal 2, and now it seems as if a Portal film might be on the cards.
The two had spent their time comparing cinema and games for an audience of video game professionals, contrasting the pros and cons of the agency and interaction experienced by a player with the far more directed nature of a film.
Speaking of the game in which female test subject Chell is tasked with escaping from a futuristic science lab, as well as the sci-fi Half-Life series which helped put Valve on the map, Newell revealed that "we're going to try and figure out if we can make a Portal movie or a Half-Life movie together."
Abrams also mentioned that he had an game idea that he wants to see Valve bring to fruition.
