No 'Tomb Raider' for Wii U?

"Tomb Raider." (HO)

Lara Croft has no love for the Wii U, it seems, with the development studio behind the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot saying a version of the game for Nintendo's new console is not likely. Man, this is not great news for Nintendo - with next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony expected to debut as early as this fall, a drop-off of third-party support for the Wii U combined with a higher level of visual fidelity offered by the next PlayStation and Xbox could make it difficult for Nintendo to broaden the Wii U's appeal beyond Zelda and Mario fans. And without the "Wow!" factor that propelled the original Wii, they need to.

Kickstarting a Wildman

The ongoing competition to see who can create the most absurdly over-the-top video game collector's edition tchotchke has a new leader: Ubisoft. The actual, working remote-controlled airplane that will come with the Splinter Cell Blacklist collector's edition (specifically, the $170 Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition) trumps the camera-equipped remote-controlled jeep from Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops uber-edition, or the working nightvision goggles from Modern Warfare 2. I plan to combine all three of these things together for some night ops targeting neighbourhood raccoons.

Skyrim getting bigger on PS3

Aptly named video game leaks site VGleaks.com published their much-hyped reveal of the next-generation PlayStation this week, and it was anticlimactic to say the least. Essentially a set of detailed tech specs (which are yet to be confirmed), it offered no insight into what novel features or capabilities the so-called PlayStation Orbis might have. Back to playing the waiting game.
