Popular social networking service Pinterest is soon to be getting a makeover, according to a recent blog post from the company.

The January 28 post on Pinterest's official blog (blog.pinterest.com) announced that the company will be "testing an update to Pinterest.com with a small group of people soon," indicating that some kind of closed beta version of a new-look Pinterest is likely to roll out soon.

The company also indicated what some of these updates could be, including improved navigation to make getting around the site easier and more information linked to each "Pin" that will show, among other things, related "pins" and other "boards" the displayed "pin" was previously attached to.

Pinterest, which allows users to share information or images that interest them by "pinning" them to a sort of virtual notice board, is one of the biggest success stories in new social networking sites. According to data from Sirona Consulting the site hit 10 million unique US monthly visitors faster than any independent site in history and, according to Ultralinx, total unique visitors to the site grew by 2,702.2 percent between May 2011 and Aug 2012.

Those interested in applying to be among the first to test Pinterest's new look should fill out the required form at goo.gl/U575V.
