Kindle e-book BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt is to provide an early way into the world of an upcoming video game when it launches in February.

The BioShock series has become well known for fusing literary and philosophical influences with blockbuster video game action.

Thematically, BioShock (2007) challenged players to consider Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, while the second followed in 2010 and moved from Objectivism to Collectivism, drawing on Marxist writings, religion, and the ethics of genetic modification.

By comparison, BioShock Infinite has identified nationalism and, in particular, early 20th century American exceptionalism, as its stomping ground, taking place aboard a floating city upon which two warring factions fight for control.

The e-book, written by BioShock Infinite scribe Joe Fielder and creative director Ken Levine, is to introduce the balloon-borne Columbia and its populace, leading readers to understand the motivations behind various key characters.

Available for Kindle devices from Feb. 12, it's also to be included as a pre-order bonus along with access to a Facebook puzzle game tie-in and various in-game trinkets.

"BioShock Infinite" itself arrives March 26 on Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
