Men's personal grooming brand Old Spice has teamed up with Stacy Keibler and NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo to launch a new end-of-the-world video game.

The 8-bit-style video game features the animated adventures of a former basketball star fighting to delay the so-called "Mayan apocalypse."

After the viral success of its "Man Your Man Could Smell Like" commercials, the brand has hired Dikembe Mutombo, Congolese-American four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, as a talisman for a tongue-in-cheek adventure through the galaxy. Players control a cartoon version of Mutombo (known by sports fans for his distinctive finger wag) and face a series of challenges that parody different forms of platform gaming.

The Procter and Gamble-owned brand is well known for its humorous advertising campaigns, which often feature videos and interative online elements. Launched on July 14, 2010, "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like," featuring actor and former sportsman Isaiah Mustafa, became the the fastest growing online viral video campaign ever, winning 6.7 million views after 24 hours and hitting 23 million views after 36 hours. The video has now notched up over 43 million hits.

Old Spice will be hoping to engage with key young male audiences via the new "Dikembe Mutombo's 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World" video game, which can be played on a dedicated site or embedded across web pages and social media sites.
