'Hitman Absolution' trailer introduces Agent 47

Ready for the November 20 debut for Hitman Absolution? The game stars Agent 47, the stealthy operative at the heart of the series, and a new trailer lays out his credentials as both hunter and hunted.

For Hitman Absolution, the smart-suited Agent 47 has been dubbed the "Original Assassin," a dig perhaps at the now well-established Assassin's Creed series.

In fact, it's been six years since Hitman series handler IO Interactive delivered Hitman: Blood Money.

The intervening years have seen IO experiment with the mercenary duo Kane & Lynch, while other staff set off for their own start-up, Reto-Moto, with WWII-era online shooter Heroes & Generals in their sights.

Perhaps more ominously for the Hitman series, Ubisoft forked its popular Prince of Persia line into the blockbuster Assassin's Creed franchise, starting in 2007 and releasing Assassin's Creed III this past October 30.

So as Absolution sees Agent 47 cut loose by his old masters and looking for a way to regain control, IO and publisher Square Enix are also angling for a piece of the action, eager to prove that this veteran action man can still hold his ground when it matters most.
