The Sketchinsight could be to whiteboards and presentations what the iPad is to the PC industry, a totally revolutionary disruption.
Steve Jobs might have famously said that if innovation was simply about writing a check, then Microsoft would have the world's greatest products, but the fact remains that the world's number-one consumer software company does have a habit of investing much more in research and development than Apple and occasionally, the work at its renowned Labs division throws up something pretty impressive.
The SktechInsight is a case in point. Despite its clunky name, it could revolutionize everything from presentations and brainstorming sessions to creative design and simplifying complex data. At its heart it is an intelligent whiteboard, so intelligent in fact that it can interpret the lines a user is drawing and complete the diagram. Then it can turn the diagrams into animations and the animations into a visual story, making anyone who used it a grand master at Pictionary or Draw Something.
As the concept develops (it's still in the prototype stages now) it could be the perfect way of taking complex data and simplifying it through diagrams and animations, or simply stop bosses from relying so heavily on PowerPoint during presentations and start making things fun and interesting again.
