Photoshop maker Adobe has released Photoshop Touch for Android and OS smartphones.

The application is a companion app for the tablet application of the same name. The smartphone application has nearly identical features as the tablet application but has been modified to suit the parameters of a smartphone.

Included on the app are core Photoshop features such as layers, selection tools, filters and adjustments; the app also gives smartphone users the ability to use traditional tools such as a "Clone Stamp," "Healing Brush" and "Curves" to finetune their photos. In addition to these features, the smartphone app also boasts special effects tools such as "Color Drops" and "Lens Fare" as well as the "Scribble" selection tool.

The app can support high resolution images of up to 12 megapixels, and can increase to 16 layers in smaller, lower resolution images.

The application costs $5 and is, unsurprisingly, heavily interlinked with Adobe's Creative Cloud service. Users of the phone application are not required to be paying subscribed members of the Creative Cloud service in order to use its features but all of those who purchase the app automatically receive a 2GB storage space in the Creative Cloud service; cloud synchronization, however, is not required to run the application.

The iOS application can be downloaded via iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adobe-photoshop-touch-for/id589440659?mt=8.

The Android application (requires 4.0 to run) can be downloaded via Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.adobe.pstouchphone.
