Gawker writer compares cold weather to Holocaust

Screengrab of Travis Okulski's tweet before it got deleted.

In what appears to be an attempt at humour, Travis Okulski, senior writer for Gawker Media’s car blog Jalopnik, compared weather to the Holocaust on Twitter.

“I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that this cold weather is far worse than the Holocaust,” he wrote Wednesday morning.

He was making reference to the cold snap that’s recently hit the United State’s East Coast.

The tweet has since been deleted and Okulski went about his day as usual, despite receiving backlash regarding his offensive tweet. He also has yet to apologize or acknowledge the tweet even happened.

Some Twitter users called for his immediate firing from Gawker while others joked about his insensitive comment regarding the mass murder of millions.

Gawker has yet to say anything about the tweet.
