Nokia has officially announced the death of its Symbian operating system, causing a buzz on Twitter on Thursday, Jan. 24.

The Symbian OS, once a staple of the Finnish phone maker's smart devices, featured for the last time on the 808 PureView (released 2012) as Nokia steps up the shift towards Windows Phone that it first began back in 2011.
