According to rumors Apple is preparing to launch a new iPad in March 2013.

The rumors, which stem from Japanese tech blog Macotakara, and were then reported on Mashable, cite an "inside source."

According to this alleged source the new iPad will be not that far off from an iPad Mini, being thinner and lighter than the current model at 237mm in height, as opposed to 241mm for the existing iPad, and just over the existing 200mm of the iPad Mini.

The report also mentions a retina display of 2048 x 1536 with a 7.9-inch screen running an A6X processor, though scant other technical details are available.

The original iPad Mini launched in November of this year, after months of speculation, with a 7.9 inch screen.
