On Monday, November 12, Google+ users are chatting excitedly about a special edition of cult sci-fi TV show Firefly that aired on US TV, sharing atmospheric images under the hashtag "Moody Monday" and discussing the latest episode of zombie-themed TV show The Walking Dead.
On the evening of November 11, US TV channel The Science Channel aired a marathon of all the episodes of cult sci-fi classic Firefly followed by an hour-long special entitled Firefly: Browncoats Unite which gathered together the show's cast to discuss the origins of the cult hit. The show was part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the cult classic which first aired on September 20, 2002.
Firefly is a futuristic series created by Joss Whedon which is set in the year 2517 and follows the crew of Serenity, a "Firefly class" ship manned by a crew of misfits and rebels who exist on the outskirts of society following a bitter civil war which led to the forming of The Alliance -- a federal government formed by the merging of the last two remaining superpowers -- the USA and China.
Also in entertainment, the hit zombie-themed TV show The Walking Dead is causing a stir after the latest episode in the series aired on Sunday night. The show, currently in its third series, follows a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world which has become overrun with zombies.
