Hugging Obamas most popular Facebook photo, tweet of all time

A photo of Barack and Michelle Obama embracing after the U.S. president's re-election has quickly become the most popular Facebook picture and Twitter post of all time.

The image, with the cutline "Four more years," had 2.1 million likes by 4:30 a.m., when Facebook announced it had broken a new record. By 9:30 a.m., that number was up to 3.1 million and counting.

As of Wednesday morning, it had been shared nearly 370,000 times and garnered more than 145,000 comments.

Just 22 minutes after the same picture was posted to Twitter, it became the most popular tweet of all time, with 226,249 retweets.

Obama beat out Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who previously held the record for most retweets at 223,402.

By 9:30 a.m., the tweet had far surpassed that record with more than 640,000 retweets.
